Fashion's coolest young model offers her unique slant on High-Street
style.
Devon Aoki has the kind of wardrobe and lifestyle that most 17-year-old
girls would happily burn their Buffalo trainers for. Three years
on from her catwalk debut at the age of 14, Devon - the current
face of Chanel and muse to Karl Lagerfeld - is now a big name in
fashion. "When I started out, I was going through a punk phase and
looked kind of weird," says the LA-born model, now living in North
London. The Anglo/Japanese beauty still puts school work before
the catwalk and only did a few shows last season so she could concentrate
on her final year. Devon gives street style a sophisticated twist:
"My style is a huge mix of everything," she reveals. She may have
a weakness for Fendi and Gucci but she's equally happy shopping
at Top Shop and Camden market. "I love customising my own clothes,"
she says. "At the moment I'm into studding my own jeans and beading
my own jewellery."
Clockwise from top left:
HIP GLAMOUR: H&M sleeveless top, Jean Paul Gaultier skirt - "This
is such a brilliant colour. It matches my wristbands perfectly.
LA COOL: Studd vest, Jeremy Scott headband, Earl Jeans, Thierry Mugler
stilettos - "This vest is really glam rock. I love the pink, and the
studding is so pretty."
SCHOOLGIRL CHIC: Benetton grey tank - "This simple tank could easily
be dressed up or down."
